Our journey began in 1989 with Sadin, our pioneering weekly newspaper, now available online with a substantial subscriber base. Asomiya Pratidin, our flagship Assamese newspaper with four editions across Assam, is widely acclaimed.

Recognized in the LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS – 2008, it stands as one of the most circulated newspapers in the region. With a significant digital audience and robust subscriptions, our media network has a formidable presence in the Northeast and beyond, as we aspire to reach even greater heights.

Our Legacy

Rooted in the pioneering efforts of (Late) Hem Chandra Baruah, a prominent writer and social reformer who compiled the first Assamese dictionary, Hemkosh, in 1919, Pratidin Media Network traces its origins to a rich cultural heritage. Hemkosh, often revered as the cornerstone of Assamese literature, embodies our commitment to preserving and promoting the essence of Assamese language and identity.

Inspired by the legacy of his great grandfather Jayanta Baruah has spearheaded numerous initiatives, from educational endeavours to recognition of excellence in various fields, cementing our position as more than just a media group but a catalyst for positive change.

An Assamese medium school established in 1992 by Shri Jayanta Baruah which offers free education to underprivileged students.

Hemkosh Braille Edition

The largest Braille dictionary recognized by Guinness World Records, launched in September 2022 by Jayanta Baruah

Hemchandra Baruah Literary Award​

A biennial award established in 2018 by Jayanta Baruah, offering Rs 2 lakhs to individuals excelling in language and literature.

Awards & Achievements

In 2008, Baruah received the Outstanding Contribution of Vernacular Daily Award from the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh at an award event hosted by the Indian Languages Newspapers Association (ILNA).
In 2017, Jayanta Baruah was awarded the prestigious Mahabir Lachit Award by the then Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal which was conferred on him by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad
Jayanta Baruah was among eight eminent personalities to be felicitated by the Sahitya Sabha in 2018. The Nalbari district Sahitya Sabha presented him with the Mahendra Narayan Chaudhury Memorial Award at Nalbari Natya Mandir.
In 2019, Jayanta Baruah's efforts were recognised by Sanskritik Mahasabha Assam, a socio-cultural group, who presented him with the Sangbad Surjya award.
The Asam Sahitya Sabha conferred the prestigious Sashi Chandra Barbaruah Award to Jayanta Baruah in 2019 which was presented at the 21st Northeast Book Fair by the then Vice President of India, Venkaiah Naidu.
The award was presented to Shri Jayanta Baruah in the year 2023 at Auniati Satra at Majuli in the event of 150th anniversary of Assam Bilasini, the second Assamese newspaper of Assam.
